We stayed a couple days at Cumberland Falls State Park. We also made a side trip to Big South Fork River Gorge. Unfortunately, we didn't know at the time that there was a 130 foot waterfall in the gorge somewhere. It didn't seem to be marked so we missed out on that one. It was still a nice little side trip though.

After Cumberland Falls we went up to the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park. There was a chair lift up to the top at Natural Bridge and I took it to the top. It did get the adrenalin going a little especially on the way down as there were drops of up to 100 feet below the chair. Of course the chairs would stop and swing back and forth when anyone else got on the lift.
Since it was close by, we went to the old reconstructed fort at Boonesborough. This was originally a fort and community founded by Daniel Boone. The fort had been reconstructed to appear like it did when Daniel Boone lived there. There were blacksmiths, candlemakers, potters, soap makers, weavers, etc. in the buildings making actual products in the old way.
